FAQs

What is Styrax essential oil also known as, and where does it come from?
Styrax essential oil is also known as Amber. Its botanical name is Liquidambar styraciflua, and it comes from France. It is a wild-crafted oil from the resin of the tree, in the Altingiaceae family.
What does Styrax essential oil smell like?
It has a sweet aroma with a floral character and a hint of almonds. The scent is warm and resinous, with the amber note coming through quite clearly. Its main constituents include cinnamyl cinnamate, phenylpropyl cinnamate and cinnamyl alcohol.
How should I think about its quality and plant part?
This is a pure therapeutic-quality oil made from the resin. The plant part used is the resin rather than leaves or flowers. It is wild-crafted and certified wild.
Is Styrax essential oil safe for everyone to use?
