FAQs
What is Frankincense carterii and where does it come from?
It is the resin oil from Boswellia carterii, a tree in the Burseraceae family. This oil is wild-crafted and comes from Somalia. The part used is the resin.
What does this frankincense smell like?
It has a resinous fragrance with the classic frankincense character. There is a gentle undertone that recalls medieval churches, alongside lively top notes. It feels rather more nuanced than a flat resin scent.
Which botanical compounds are most present in this oil?
The main compounds are alpha- and beta-Pinene, Limonene, Sabinene and Myrcene. These are the principal chemical constituents listed for the oil. They are part of what gives frankincense its distinctive aromatic profile.
Is there anything I should be cautious about when using it?
It is non toxic and non irritant. There is, however, a possibility of sensitisation in some individuals. As with any essential oil, it is sensible to be cautious if you know your skin reacts easily.
How long does Frankincense carterii keep?
Unopened, it has a shelf life of 36 months. Once opened, it is best used within 12 months. Keeping it tightly closed and away from heat and light will help preserve it.

I find Oshadhi oils to be simply exquisite. Their fragrances are so rich and full bodied. It is easy to immediately discern the difference their insistence on extraction by slow distillation makes.
