Jojoba is itself an excellent oil for the skin, regenerative and toning. It is produced from an evergreen desert shrub native to Mexico and southern USA where its nuts with their delicate shells yield a precious wax which is liquid at body temperature and is chemically very similar to sebum, the skin’s natural oil. Quite apart from its own natural affinity for all skin types, this makes jojoba an excellent carrier substance for essential oils because it penetrates rapidly and does not leave an oily residue.
