Absolutes

Absolutes are plant oils made using solvent extraction instead of the usual process of steam distillation. Solvent extraction is used for delicate materials that cannot be distilled, either because they yield very little oil or because heat would damage their fragrance. The process gently draws out the plant’s aromatic compounds, creating a rich, concentrated oil. As a result, absolutes often have a stronger and more immediate aroma than essential oils, and are often less costly too.
